“Mmm, you better,” she said with a soft smile, brushing his hair back affectionately.
He smiled and gave her another quick kiss before he stepped back for the doors. “Bye Care.”
She waved a hand briefly and then dropped it, watching him disappear with a smile. She didn’t head back to the Cauldron until he was gone.
He kissed her lightly. “I will,” he assured her, reaching out to tuck a bit of hair back behind her ear. “Love you,” he told her softly.
“Mmm, you better,” she said with a soft smile, brushing his hair back affectionately.
“I’ll take that as a compliment considering you love me,” he teased softly, smiling at her before he stopped at the entrance. “I’ll see you again in a little while?”
“Of course it is,” she assured him with a nod. She stopped and turned to face him. ”Come find me whenever,” she said, leaning up to peck his lips.
“Merlin, I don’t mean like…” she laughed. ”Of course I meant an old soul.”
He laughed. “No, no I figured that was what you meant. I guess I just never thought of myself as an old soul.”
“You seem like it to me,” she said simply, giving a loose shrug of her shoulders as they made it to the entrance to the ministry.
“In here,” she said, prodding his chest gently just over his heart.
He made a face. “I suppose,” he said, “if you mean an old soul. That’s always been kind of poetically neat.”
“Merlin, I don’t mean like…” she laughed. ”Of course I meant an old soul.”
“You would say that, old man,” she teased.
“Hey! I’m not that much older.”
“In here,” she said, prodding his chest gently just over his heart.
“I think I’d like to slow down for a while anyway,” she chuckled.
He smiled. “Nothing wrong with that.”
“You would say that, old man,” she teased.
“Ah, I don’t know how much more spontaneity I have in me,” she shrugged, grinning a bit.
He laughed. “Fair enough,” he kissed her cheek.
“I think I’d like to slow down for a while anyway,” she chuckled.
“I like the spontaneous Ministry visits. You should do them more often… or as often as they can be while remaining spontaneous,” he teased softly after a long, comfortable silence.
“Ah, I don’t know how much more spontaneity I have in me,” she shrugged, grinning a bit.
“Good,” she smiled, leaning up to kiss his cheek.
He grinned widely, giving her hand a squeeze as he started back in the direction of the Ministry.
She walked with him, keeping a hold of his hand. She wondered vaguely if Axel had bothered to tell his boss he was leaving, but pushed the thought out of her mind. She never wanted to talk about him when Mason brought him up; she wasn’t about to bring him up herself.
